The location
Welcome to the Jura in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, northwest of Bern. We took the road via Zurich, winding our way up a mountain on serpentine roads, passing a few farms before reaching an altitude of over 1,000 meters. On a secluded plateau spanning 650 hectares, we discovered the freshly renovated Château de Raymontpierre – a place of its own with a magical view of the Jura landscape.
The Swiss hotel group The Living Circle has created a truly special retreat here. A place for connoisseurs, gourmets, and anyone seeking something out of the ordinary.
Because a stay at Château de Raymontpierre is more than just an overnight stay — it’s a complete experience of nature, history, design, and fine cuisine.
The hosts
Château de Raymontpierre is run by Sydney and Timon. We quickly came to appreciate them – not only as people, but as thoughtful and committed hosts. Sydney previously worked as a journalist, while Timon graduated from the renowned hotel management school in Lausanne and worked in several establishments. After spending time together at Villa Lena in Tuscany, they began dreaming of creating their own version of an agriturismo.
Their goal is to create a place that allows people to step out of their everyday lives. They grow their own lettuce, herbs, and vegetables, experiment with new recipes, and even develop their own products from scratch. Their dedication is visible in every detail – from the food to the ceramics. And perhaps most importantly: they bring people together around the dinner table and create a space where guests feel welcome from the very first moment.
The food
Dinner is an integral part of the stay. Guests eat together at a long communal table – outdoors on the terrace at sunset when the weather is nice. Throughout the day, Timon and his team prepare a four-course menu featuring creative, modern Alpine cuisine, using ingredients from their own garden and products from the region. The main course usually includes a variation of Simmental beef, raised on the estate’s own farm. With dedication, Sydney and Timon continue to refine their farm-to-table concept, aiming to become fully self-sufficient in the future.

The rooms
What stands out immediately: everything here is of the highest quality – from the fabrics and antiques to the art on the walls. For the full experience, we recommend staying in one of the rooms in the historic château, whose foundations date back to 1595. Those looking for something more exclusive can opt for one of the two suites, where the restored wooden ceiling even continues into the shower. Especially cozy are the four attic rooms, furnished with moonwood from the estate’s own forest.
Seriously nothing is missing here. Each floor even has an honesty bar where guests can help themselves to drinks.
Scents
No matter where you are in the château – it smells wonderful. In the rooms, there’s the subtle scent of moonwood; in the kitchen, aromas of freshly baked bread, smoked or fermented foods; and in the spa, the fragrance of the château’s own line of care products.
Special
Throughout the year, various guest chefs are invited to Château de Raymontpierre. From June 20 to 22, for example, Riccardo Gaspari from the Michelin-starred restaurant SanBrite in South Tyrol will be on site for a four-hands dinner. And from August 9 to 11, two-star chef and “Rising Star of the Year” (GaultMillau) Dominik Hartmann from Restaurant Magdalena will be cooking for guests. A full list of upcoming guest chefs can be found here.

Wellness
You can quite literally immerse yourself in the château’s small but beautifully designed spa, complete with a sauna and steam room. A narrow stone staircase, reminiscent of an old castle dungeon, leads down to a space built into the mountain, opening onto a terrace with sweeping views of the landscape. The design is timeless and atmospheric.
Getting There
Château de Raymontpierre is quiet and secluded, so arriving by car is recommended. It’s also practical for going out for lunch or taking short trips in the area. Sydney and Timon are happy to provide guests with tips and recommendations. From the château, you can head straight out on hikes or bike tours into the Jura Valley.
Season
The château is open to guests from April through November.
Rates
Prices range from 480 CHF to 780 CHF, depending on the season and room category. Rates include an overnight stay, a four-course dinner, and breakfast. The château can also be rented exclusively — for weddings, workshops, or private events — and accommodates up to 28 people.
